Today I had the opportunity to be a part of my first staff meeting with the Trinity staff. We had, I think, a good meeting. There was good conversation, there was laughter, there were details attended to, and there was just a taste of dreaming that was shared. These are good, dedicated people who are focused on Christ’s mission here.
The thing I appreciated the most was that our meeting began with a devotion, led by Pastor Dean, (a great devotion, by the way) and with the sharing of Holy Communion. I am a firm believer that a community that centers itself around worship, around Word and sacrament, is a community with staying power. Where Christ is present, and the Holy Spirit is at work, amazing things happen
With the Trinity staff, amazing things are going to happen. I really believe that.
“Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.” – 1 Corinthians 10:16-17.
When we receive the sacraments, we participate in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus; and (most importantly) Jesus is present within us. It is the central moment that we can experience in our life with Christ. I am so thankful that our staff, every month, celebrates communion together as a part of its staff gathering.
And I’m even more grateful that my time with the staff began this way.
Blessings!
Pastor Todd
