Christopher Leach, who has been with us at Trinity for the past two years, has received a call to serve as the pastor of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville, Minnesota. Our Savior’s voted last weekend to extend a call to Christopher. Chris has indicated that he will accept the call, and will begin his ministry there on July 7.
Chris served for a year as an intern at Trinity and then after his internship was completed, agreed to remain at Trinity as our “Seminarian Pastor” for this past year while completing his senior year at Luther Seminary. At Trinity this past year, Chris coordinated our pastoral care and visitation ministry. He also preached, led worship, coordinated our “Caring Friends” ministry and occasionally provided music in worship.
Chris’ wife Sarah, who has been a music teacher the past two years in the Owatonna schools, has also been an important part of our community, and has accompanied our music groups and played organ (even serving as our primary organist during Lent, 2014 when Janene hurt her wrist and was unable to play).
Trinity has been blessed by having Chris and Sarah with us this past two years. They have been gifts to our congregation and our community. And on a personal level, I have appreciated their friendship. I will miss them.
Our Savior’s is a congregation of 990 baptized members about twenty miles away from Moorhead, Minnesota.
Chris will be preaching at Trinity on the weekend of June 6 & 7. He and Sarah’s final weekend at Trinity will be June 13 & 14. During that service, we will be doing a special blessing and sending of Chris and Sarah and there will be a reception for them between services.
We are grateful for Chris and Sarah, and for how God has worked through them at Trinity. And we wish them the best as they move north to the tundra.
Congratulations Pastor Chris!
