Dear friends,
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year celebration.
I want to give you an important update about Pastor Chris Meester and his family.
Many of you are probably aware that Pastor Chris’ wife, Laurel, who also serves as an ELCA pastor in Blooming Prairie, is pregnant. Their baby is due at the beginning of March.
On New Year’s Day, they had some concerns and went to the hospital to be evaluated. After she was assessed, she was admitted for treatment. Everything is stable, and Laurel and the baby are both doing ok. She will remain at the hospital in Rochester until the baby is delivered. They are hopeful that won’t be for another 2.5 weeks. Laurel and the baby are being closely monitored.
Pastor Chris will be on leave for the foreseeable future. We are working to make sure the ministries that Pastor Chris works with will continue.
You maybe wondering if there are things you can do or ways you can support them. Two things come to mind:
First, please pray. Pray for the health and well-being of the whole Meester family (especially for little Ellie. This is a lot for a 3-year-old to take in!)
Second, if you’d like to send them a card, I’m sure they’d appreciate it. You can drop it off here at church. We will make sure that it gets delivered to them in Rochester.
Pastor Chris and Laurel shared that they are focusing on the promises of Jesus found in Matthew 6:34: “So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” In other words, day by day, we remain connected, hopeful, and trusting in God’s goodness as we prepare to welcome this beautiful child into our family of faith. The Meesters continue to take things day by day with that verse in mind.
Centered on the promises of Jesus,
Pastor Todd
