Dear Friends in Christ,
I have some good news to share. Last week, congregational council president, Marla Holt and I wrote to you about the water problems in the lower level of our building and the belief that we were facing a major water mitigation project. At that time, the estimated cost was close to $100,000, and we asked for your prayers and support.
We also shared that there are several other building repair projects that were already in the pipeline to be done in the next year, and that Trinity’s church council had decided to wrap these projects together with the water mitigation, so we’d only have to go to the congregation once. These additional projects include:
- Repairing sections of the parking lot
- Tuckpointing the bell tower
- Updating our HVAC software to improve efficiency
The total cost of these repairs was estimated to be $212,000.
Since we wrote to you, we have learned that the cause of the water issues is much simpler and significantly less expensive than we first thought. We now anticipate saving approximately $84,000 from the original estimate. This is a tremendous blessing.
We are planning on moving forward with repairing the water leaks that we do still have as well as the parking lot, bell tower and HVAC control systems. The total cost for all of these projects together is estimated at $128,000. (Much better than the original estimate!)
Some generous members of the congregation have already given to support this work, and we are very grateful. Now, we invite others to join in. If you feel called to make a financial gift to help cover these costs, we would be honored and thankful. Every gift matters and helps us care for the space where we welcome, connect, learn and serve.
If you would like to contribute, you can do so by mailing or dropping off a check to the church office with “Building Projects” in the memo line, or by giving online at www.tlcowatonna.org/give.
Our congregational meeting to discuss these projects and to vote to move forward will take place this Sunday, July 20 at 12:00pm in Fellowship Hall. I hope you can come to be a part of the conversation.
Thank you for being part of this faith community and for all the ways you support Trinity’s mission and ministry.
In Christ,
Pastor Todd Buegler
Senior Pastor, Trinity Lutheran Church
