This week, Trinity is introducing a new worship service. For eight weeks, we are going to pilot a new service that will happen every Wednesday night from 6:15-7pm. It’s going to be a different “flavor” of worship from anything else we have:
- We are going to meet upstairs in “The Gathering” room, to create a smaller, more intimate experience
- The music is going to be acoustic and unplugged
- We are going to gather “in-the-round”
- We’ll celebrate Holy Communion every week
- While the scripture text will be the same as the previous Sunday, the shorter sermon will go in a slightly different direction than what we heard on Sunday
- The worship will be shorter, probably 35-40 minutes in length
We are going to do this worship together for these eight weeks, from January 4 up to Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent (when we have our regular Wednesday night Lenten services). If there’s traction for a weeknight worship service, we’re going to take the things that we learn during these eight weeks, and use them to help create a new, permanent and ongoing Wednesday worship beginning this upcoming fall.
One of Trinity’s goals for the next two years is to increase our worship attendance. We know that weekends can be complicated, with family travel, sports tournaments and lots of other things going on in life. Hopefully the addition of a weeknight service will give another option, allowing more people to get to worship every week.
We encourage to come and participate in our new, Wednesday night worship! Placed firmly in the center of our week, it will hopefully remind us that in the waters of baptism, Christ is placed firmly in the center of our lives.
