Dear friends,
As we enter the sacred season of Advent, we are invited to embrace a theme that resonates deeply with the yearnings of our hearts and the promise of our faith: “Those Who Dream.” Inspired by the opening lines of Psalm 126, “When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream,” our Advent journey this year is an exploration of what it means to live as dreamers in a world longing for hope and restoration.

Embracing God’s Dreams
Throughout the scriptures, dreams are everywhere. From prophets to psalmists, from Mary and Joseph to the shepherds and the Magi, these were individuals who dared to dream with God. Their dreams were not mere figments of imagination but divine insights into a world transformed by God’s love and grace. In Advent, we step into this lineage of dreamers, opening our hearts to the mystery and awe of God’s dreams, praying that they become the fabric of our reality.
For Every Dreamer
This Advent theme speaks to every one of us. Whether you are someone who dreams of a deeper connection with God or someone who aspires for a better world, this theme is for you. It’s for those who seek comfort in their dreams and for those who have felt the crushing weight of lost dreams. It’s a call to those whose dreams have been delayed, reminding us that the fulfillment of God’s promises often takes time.
Dreaming with the Prophets and Angels
As we journey through Advent, we will dream alongside the great figures of our faith. We’ll walk with prophets who envisioned a world of justice and peace, with angels who announced the good news of Christ’s birth. We’ll stand with Mary as she embraces her role in God’s dream for humanity, and journey with the Magi, who followed a star in pursuit of a newborn king.
Sowing God’s Dreams
Dreaming with God is not a passive activity. It is an active engagement in sowing seeds of hope, peace, joy, and love in our world. As we dream, we are also called to act – to be bearers of God’s transformative dream in our communities. This Advent, let us commit to being dreamers who not only envision a better world but also work towards making it a reality.
An Invitation
This Advent, embark on this journey of dreaming. Together, let’s explore what it means to live as those who dream. Let’s gather to worship, learn, and share in fellowship, seeking and sowing God’s dreams for our world.
In this season of anticipation and hope, may we be inspired by the dreamers of our faith. May their stories encourage us to hold fast to our dreams, trusting in God’s faithful promise of restoration and renewal.
In Christ’s love,
Pastor Todd
